Lavadeiras (Washerwomen), 2015

4h

Collaborative Face-to-Face Performance / Video Performance

Descriptive Memorial: Action carried out in the streets of Espirito Santo's Capital. Covered by mud, carrying basins, buckets with water and the flags of Brazil, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, the performers walked barefoot for 4 hours. At strategic times of the route, the flags were washed with dirty water from bowls and buckets. The walk extended to the administrative entrance of the mining company Vale, one of the shareholders of Samarco, where, in silence, the dirty mud flags would be washed and extended. The final part of the action did not happen, since the strong policing in the place prevented and it alleged invasion of the private space.

The performance was carried out in the streets of Vitória, Espírito Santo, with the participation of students of Arts, Social Sciences and Psychology of the Federal University of Espírito Santo - UFES. The video-performance, as a result of searches for fragments of images of the action on the Internet, was on display at the collective exhibition "Deslizes Monumentais e Sonhos Intranquilos", in the Art and Research Gallery (GAP) of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES ), Vitória-ES.
